Frame-Semantic Parsing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Frame semantics is a linguistic theory that has been instantiated for English in the FrameNet lexicon. We solve the problem of frame-semantic parsing using a two-stage statistical model that takes lexical targets (i.e., content words and phrases) in their sentential contexts and predicts frame-semantic structures. Given a target in context, the first stage disambiguates it to a semantic frame. This model uses latent variables and semi-supervised learning to improve frame disambiguation for targets unseen at training time. The second stage finds the target’s locally expressed semantic arguments. At inference time, a fast exact dual decomposition algorithm collectively predicts all the arguments of a frame at once in order to respect declaratively stated linguistic constraints, resulting in qualitatively better structures than naı̈ve local predictors. Both components are feature-based and discriminatively trained on a small set of annotated frame-semantic parses. On the SemEval 2007 benchmark data set, the approach, along with a heuristic identifier of frame-evoking targets, outperforms the prior state of the art by significant margins. Additionally, we present experiments on the much larger FrameNet 1.5 data set. We have released our frame-semantic parser as open-source software.

Automatic identification of words with semantic roles (such as Agent, Patient, Source, etc.) in sentences and attaching correct semantic roles to them, may lead to improvement in many natural language processing tasks including information extraction, question answering, text summarization and machine translation. Semantic role labeling systems usually take advantage of syntactic parsing and th...
متن کاملUsing C5.0 and Exhaustive Search for Boosting Frame-Semantic Parsing Accuracy
Frame-semantic parsing is a kind of automatic semantic role labeling performed according to the FrameNet paradigm. The paper reports a novel approach for boosting frame-semantic parsing accuracy through the use of the C5.0 decision tree classifier, a commercial version of the popular C4.5 decision tree classifier, and manual rule enhancement. Additionally, the possibility to replace C5.0 by an ...
متن کاملFrame Semantic Parsing using Framester Knowledge Graphs
This paper introduces TakeFive, a new algorithm that performs frame semantic parsing using frame-oriented knowledge graph generated by Framester. TakeFive performs dependency parsing, identifies the words that evoke lexical frames, locates the roles and fillers for each frame, and runs coercion techniques.
متن کاملEvent Extraction as Frame-Semantic Parsing
Based on the hypothesis that frame-semantic parsing and event extraction are structurally identical tasks, we retrain SEMAFOR, a stateof-the-art frame-semantic parsing system to predict event triggers and arguments. We describe how we change SEMAFOR to be better suited for the new task and show that it performs comparable to one of the best systems in event extraction. We also describe a bias i...
متن کاملUnsupervised Induction of Frame-Semantic Representations
The frame-semantic parsing task is challenging for supervised techniques, even for those few languages where relatively large amounts of labeled data are available. In this preliminary work, we consider unsupervised induction of frame-semantic representations. An existing state-of-the-art Bayesian model for PropBank-style unsupervised semantic role induction (Titov and Klementiev, 2012) is exte...
متن کاملProbabilistic Frame-Semantic Parsing
This paper contributes a formalization of frame-semantic parsing as a structure prediction problem and describes an implemented parser that transforms an English sentence into a frame-semantic representation. It finds words that evoke FrameNet frames, selects frames for them, and locates the arguments for each frame. The system uses two featurebased, discriminative probabilistic (log-linear) mo...
